ABOUT RYAN &
HIS PROCESS
Ryan Silberberg works as the Chief Recovery Specialist of RMS Recovery Solutions
Ryan’s personal journey, professional experience, addiction counselor training, and interventionist training make him well qualified for his role as Chief Recovery Specialist at RMS Recovery Solutions.
Ryan started his life in the addiction field as a patient. As a “distinguished” alumnus of six different treatment centers, it’s safe to say the Ryan does not have a “one and done” recovery story. Undeniably, part of Ryan’s passion for his work stems from the reality that for the majority of his fight to find recovery he was never afforded a personalized intervention experience customized to his specific needs. This resulted in participating time and again in treatment programs that were not a good fit for him. Ryan believes that treatment is not one size fits all, and that treatment professionals should work to fit the client not the other way around.
Since finding long term recovery, Ryan has made helping others struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges his personal and professional passion.
Ryan has worked at every level of the addiction continuum- from helping folks in the acute detoxification stage, to supporting clients in finding appropriate primary care treatment, and working as a recovery coach and residential manager in extended care and transitional living settings, Ryan truly has a depth of experience that’s invaluable to the clients and families he works with.
WHAT TO EXPECT
ASSESSMENT
Ryan will help you evaluate if you or your loved one have a dependency problem, and the level of your dependence.
Ryan will ask questions like:
- Defiant or extremely defensive in response to general questioning?
- Problems with impulse control?
- Isolating?
- Exhibiting rage or inordinate anger?
- Experiencing rapid weight loss or gain?
- Disappearing during practice or work often, to the locker room or restroom
- Excessive relationship issues and legal issues?
- Blaming other people, places, and things for their problems?
INTERVENTION
Once it is determined that your friend or family member has an addiction problem, Ryan will help you organize an intervention event. A conversation will take place wherein Ryan and others will lovingly confront the addict with his or her chemical dependency and convince them of the necessity for treatment.
An intervention is necessary if:
- You are frustrated and angry with what addiction has done to your family.
- You don’t know how to deal with the addicted person’s behavior.
- You can no longer endure the chaos brought on by addiction.
- You need clear information about treatment and other resources
CARE MANAGEMENT
Ryan will work with you and your loved one to establish viable options for moving forward toward treatment and recovery.
He can help with things like:
- Assessment of current presenting problems- is this normal for recovery or not?
- Facilitating communication with participating family members
- Recommendations for continuing care and/or intervention services
- Assisting with accountability and follow through of continuing care
- Communication with all service providers
